I chose the Beast of Gévaudan for my animal in the parade. This creature is shrouded in mystery to this very day! It purportedly terrorized Margeride Mountains of south-central France between 1764 and 1767. Reports from numerous witnesses stated that it looked like an abnormally large wolf, while others say it had the characteristics of a large feline with a long and tufted tail. It has been described as having dark, russet fur-sometimes striped or spotted, with formidable claws and teeth. It was estimated to have taken over 200 victims (depending on the source) and was apparently "immune to bullets". A specimen of this beast was supposedly taxidermied, but it has since been lost and most likely decayed and destroyed with age and wear.
